Lopsided UV unwrapping

Blender newbie question. Can someone please explain why I’m getting such a lopsided UV shell when upwrapping this symmetrical model? And the best way to fix it? The rest of the shells from the model unwrap just fine. Using Blender 2.8. I did try both angle based and conformal unwrapping methods, same result with both. Thanks.

Try extending the seams on the front face, sometimes that does the trick.

Thank you. I tried that and it made no difference. I even split the head completely and the two sides are still asymmetrical. This is frustrating.

This is with angle-based unwrapping. With conformal, the two halves are symmetrical, but when I rejoin them - even if only by a single edge - I get the same result as before.

With the original seams I would expect to see something more like this:

What am I missing here?

Found an answer here.

You have to align the center seam, pin it, then unwrap.

Looking much better now.

My idea, seam at the base of nose, eyes, mouse and ears.
Head and hair can go at any seams combination.
And a seam around the parts of the nose.
Head unwrap is such a headache it self, have been thare and know how you feel.

This worked PERFECT for me when I had this problem. Thanks a ton! I was able to pin all of the edges and it fixed everything
