Here’s a picture of the after-meeting Blenderheads who went for drinks/food and VR on the Marina next door to our June 20th event. We had trouble getting our beer orders in due to all the VR goggles strapped to our faces.
And here’s a picture of our LA BlenderHeads wearing anaglyph 3D glasses to view new stereoscopic 2.75 Multi-view functionality
I had a great time. Thanks for everything everyone!
It was a great time, as always!

"Blender at SIGGRAPH 2015
June 6th, 2015
Siggraph 2015 is in Los Angeles, downtown, from 9-13 August. This is the highlight of the year for everyone who’s into 3D Computer Graphics. As usual you can find Blender users/developers all over, but especially here:
-
Sunday 3-5 PM: Birds of a Feather (free access)
– Presentation of last year’s work and upcoming projects by chairman Ton Roosendaal. Includes time for everyone to speak up and share!
– Viewing of the Cosmos Laundromat open movie (12 minutes)
– Artists/developers demos and showcase, including several people of the BI crew. - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Tradeshow booth #1111
Great place to meet, hangout, get demos, or share your feedback with everyone. You can always find plenty of Blender developers and users here
Meeting Point: Lobby or pool bar of hotel Figueroa (to be confirmed). This is one of the first hotels you pass by if you walk to downtown from the Convention Center. The pool bar is a pleasant hangout, open for everyone – just walk into the hotel lobby and take the corridor to the left of the desk.
-
Free Tradeshow tickets… gone
The coupon code EXHBI9507 is now invalid… sorry. (July 31st)."

ENJOY!
Today’s Blender Community BoF session is in room #507!
It is by the West Exhibit Hall, upstairs and to the left.

OCTOBER LA.blend Westside Local Meetup this month!
Reposted from Blender Nation:
Greetings LA BlenderHeads!
We have a new Blender version release (2.76) and that means it’s time again to join your fellow Blender peers and share information on our favorite software.
This spooky Halloween meeting will be at the Marina Del Rey public library with the venue meeting room overlooking the boat harbor and next door to an outdoor patio venue where we can retire afterwards for drinks, food, and social stuff. We’re still building the session agenda but the following sessions are likely:
- Introductions and What’s New With Blender
- Advanced Rigging For Studio Animation
- Blender Conference Trip Updates
- Blender Projects Show-and-Tell
As always, if you’d like to volunteer a session (Everyone can speak to something), please reach out to Stirling ([email protected]) and we’ll add you to our session queue.
The meeting venue unfortunately doesn’t have a digital projector so if anyone has a decent projector, please email Stirling as we’ll have to rent/buy if not.

See you there or online!
Well that was fun. We had around 11 people at peak online and in-person so it was nice and intimate. We managed the event without any show stopping technical issues and enjoyed the sun and harbor on the next door patio restaurant / bar. Thanks to all who came, and we’ll see you at the next event!
FutureHack is organizing a large joint meeting with another user group for January. If you would like to present at that meeting or help with organizing and logistics please PM me or FutureHack for more info.
This meeting will be more heavily advertised and have a much larger attendance and venue than our normal Westside Local Blender Users Meetings. We are aiming for some high end presenters also for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
So please ping us if you want to help out. Happy blending!

Hey all SIGGRAPH 2016 will be here before we know it. I propose we organize some special events to coincide with the conference and expo. Also I recommend all y’all to watch on BlenderNation.com for requests for submissions to the demo reel. So start getting your material ready soon. A lot of us get too busy to do things last minute so if we organize some of these things early we can make for a great showing of the SoCal peeps @ SIGGRAPH 2016!
SIGGRAPH 2016
Anaheim Convention Center
Conference: July 24th-28th
Expo/Blender Booth: 26th-28th
I’ll definitely be there! woot!
