Los Angeles Blender Meetup Celebrating Blender 5

LA Blenderheads,

Welcome to 2026 and another great Blender year. Let’s ring in the new year with a celebration of the new(ish) Blender 5 release. Come hear about the latest in Blender news and ongoings. Bring a notebook PC or a thumb drive to show off your latest Blender-centric project work. Ping me if you have a session you’d like added to the agenda.

It would have been nice to have a bit more lead time on this notice.

Maybe at least a week?

Seems like it was posted just the day before.

I was thinking the same thing, really confused me because when this was posted that time had already happened for me in the UK.

With the global aspect of Blender it would also be nice to meet and share with people in different parts of the world. Without having to travel to BCON.

That’s fair. I dropped the ball on getting the word out on this meeting until just before due to holiday travel, etc. As we run the meetings both in-person and online, I thought it might be useful for our online joiners.

Regarding other in-person meetups in other locations, there are a number of them. If there is not one in your home city, then create one! For those in the US, don’t miss the upcoming BCON Austin

Late notice, yes, but is there a summary of videos or postings from the meetings?
Glad to hear it happened, more to follow??

We record the meetings and post them online at https://www.youtube.com/@lablender
This meeting included audio issues and thus posting will depend on speaker re-recording. Meeting sessions included:

  1. What’s new with Blender
  2. Blender VR projects and the Apple Vision Pro
  3. AI driven Blender with Blender-MCP (Two speakers)

We hold meetings for each major Blender version release, so roughly every 4 months or so.

It would have been nice to have more lead time on this notice to

A) at least attend with English speaking users
B) possibly share what we are doing here on this side of the world

I don’t have time to manage/maintain or organize a global Blender group to meet online.

But would attend if there was one, or if any English speaking groups would have the ability to do Zoom or Teams outside of their area.

I don’t live in an English speaking country at the moment.

Although our event presenters are mostly LA locals (and from the US), we have on occasion had remote presenters from outside of the country. If you have a Blender-centric topic you’d like to share with our group, ping me directly to discuss.

I am just asking for a little lead time.

Again, next time you have an event, kindly give us some lead time so any of these things could be discussed before the event.

It is a given that I would contact you directly.
