Low Poly Cartoon Axe

This is a gaming asset I’ve been working on, inspired by a time lapse on blender.org, by XRG81 playing with the new GSoC features. Hand painted, and weighing in at 150 faces. i tried to make it as compact as possible, while retaining a coherent look even subdivided. The second image shows a comparison for that purpose, left to right, 150, 600 and 10k vertices.

I really hope you like it and let me know what you think. Cheers.

I really like that cartoony style. Pretty cool!

Looks a bit like Torchlight 2

Thanks for the reply, and I’m glad you like it. As for the resemblence to Torchlight 2, that was not intended in the least. This is my first attempt at making hand drawn textures so it’s nice to know that I am at least going in the right direction

Flippin’ AWESOME!! How do you get that black outline?

I’m really interested on how you created the textures for this weapon, any chance you could make a quick video :’)?

These textures look great. Where is the rest of the game, I’m ready to download it

Wow. Just wow. I was away from this forum for a while, and last time I checked there wasn’t much interest in this thread. You have no idea just how much this made my day. Thank you guys.

@Urf Unfortunately there is no game to go with the axe (at least not yet :).

@Skyast If you are still interested I’l try to make the time and post a short tut on making simple textures and models like these.

@Gnaws The outline is done with the Freestyle Render with just basic settings applied.

Again thank you all for the kind words
