Interesting… never thought of using transparency this way for a mouth animation :heart_eyes:

That’s a different kind of technique. How do you animate it, or is this more for still images?

I haven’t seen anybody else doing it. The whole thing is 526 tris. You do need to add a few more polygons for the inside of the mouth. It also has to match the UV map of the face to line up. There are a lot of interesting options with it. I’m still figuring it out tho. Primarily I’m wanting to make this work in a game engine. If it was just in blender I probably would just be using a boolean modifier.

Yeah, sorta like a flip book. It would work a lot like link from wind waker for example, just with more depth. I am interested in very stylized characters, this one is kind of terrible but it has been a good test for the mouth alpha idea and the sharp black lines. The way it would be animated would probably be a mix of image swapping and UV movement. That’s the idea at least.
