Following on from my low-poly-mini-gun I’ve made a low-poly plasma rifle…
This time I’ve used the toon shader and have rendered all the images with edges on. What do you think?

haha thats really nice dude :P. got any non toon shading. :P. is really nice.
Nice gun.
The green shade can be darker.
nice job.
great texture. i hate doing textures.
got any non toon shading.
Sure, here you go…
I prefer toon shading in this case
Nice weapon!
yea toon shading is better lol, plan to make a game?
nice! one question: would the vertical ammo clip thing (or is it a battery?) get in the way of aiming? or is this held more like the plasma rifle from The Matrix?
I like it. Good start. I have issues with the texturing, actually, in contrast to what Orion119 said. While I like them, mostly, closer inspection reveals that they’re actually a bit low res, and really just an image mapped onto the gun. While that isn’t a huge problem, they could easily, and with not too many more polys, have certain details, such as the holes and the like, modeled into them, which would look a bit better. I like 'em though, and if they’re for a game, you’re probably fine.

Me too! Blame Grimreaper for asking for it!
plan to make a game?
I’d love to but I have to go to work and don’t have much spare time!

I have no idea… I didn’t think about it. It’s meant to look like a clip but I don’t know whether plasma rifles have a clip… I don’t even know what a plasma rifle is really! It just sounded cool.

Of course, I’m still learning and have a long way to go. At present I’m concentrating on simple shapes and using image textures. Both ends and the middle are simple images (bump and colour) slapped on as a tube.
I’m trying to ease myself in with UV mapping so for the handles and clip I used the “from window” thing to take all sides into UV/Image editor (front, back, top, bottom etc…). I then set-up an image to cover these areas.
I had a little play with the LSCM thing and trying to stitch the vertices together but it was a little confusing. What does “really just an image mapped onto the gun” mean? Surely that’s the whole point of texturing or am I missing something?
They are quite low-res images, I think the biggest is about 500 pixels wide, but that’s because it’s quicker and easier to work with smaller images and IMO it doesn’t make that much difference to a project like this.
I’m still learning and I think I’m going in the right direction but if someone thinks that there is something seriously wrong with my Blendering then now would be a good time to tell me!
[edit]
it FUN toon style - make QUAKE IV - toon rampage
GR8 JOB
one question if it a plasma rifle why does it have a clip.
I like it but unless it shoots plasma bullets im gonna have too … shut myeslf up.
Well, you need something to ionise don’t you?
