I’ve been trying to find a way to make a 3D-model of a part of an urban area (Stockholm) and I was wondering if there is a way to do so with my Mac?
All of the plugins and tutorials I’ve been going through only works on Windows.
Perhaps the answer is simply no, but I’ve been trying to figure it out for days so I figure it’s time to just ask around.
It’s been a while but if you’re still searching then BlenderGIS is what you want. It’s a superb add-on that I used to produce the image below on my Mac Pro. You can download it here: https://github.com/domlysz/BlenderGIS
Be aware that although it can automatically texture the landscape it won’t do so with the buildings, you will need to do that manually. It can be a lot of work, the shot of New York below certainly was. And I would not recommend trying to use it if you have less than 32GB of RAM, with 128GB a better bet for large models. Such landscapes import well using the add-on but they eat tons of RAM.
