Another project inspired by @JanElsner, this time I tried to replicate his “magic glass” effect in Blender.
Here is the basic process:
- Create a rigid body simulation of moving cubes, with a rectangular collider in the middle to leave space for the bottle label.
- Use geometry nodes to assign a pyramid displacement texture to each cube, then render out the simulation to get an animated displacement texture in the form of an image sequence.
- Apply the displacement on the desired area of the bottle, using the image sequence inside a geometry nodes displacement setup.
