Magic Bottle

Another project inspired by @JanElsner, this time I tried to replicate his “magic glass” effect in Blender.

Here is the basic process:

  1. Create a rigid body simulation of moving cubes, with a rectangular collider in the middle to leave space for the bottle label.
  2. Use geometry nodes to assign a pyramid displacement texture to each cube, then render out the simulation to get an animated displacement texture in the form of an image sequence.
  3. Apply the displacement on the desired area of the bottle, using the image sequence inside a geometry nodes displacement setup.
