Making linked character local

I’m working on a bigger project and trying to use linked assets as much as I can.

My problem is that once I get to rendering stage I need to fine tune freestyle settings for my characters. E.g. adding the character’s hair, eyeball and eyelid objects to separate groups for different FS linesets etc.

To do this it seems I’ll need to make the character local to the .blend and scene, so that the separate objects can be selected and groups can be defined.

Does anyone know a sane workflow for this?

I’ve tried combinations of make-local and make-duplicates-real, but some meshes/objects are still inaccessible (poly hair in this case).

Quickly eroding the workflow advantages of using linked assets. :frowning:
