Malfunction

Retouched my old scene, now with around 100,000,000 simulated sand grains and made a tutorial for it. This is combination of Blender and Houdini. Rendered with Cycles. There’s also a tutorial which goes through the whole process and how you can import/export simulations between Houdini and Blender.

Couple fan facts:
There’s approx. 100M particles in the scene.
Simulation file was 500GB with each frame being ~2GB.

Outstanding result!)

Whoa! x10 characters!

you don’t need to copy mapping coordinates every time from shader to shader, just put all of them (mapping) into a group node and reuse it in every shader, so press TAB and you will get global access to adjust every shader at once

Very true, thanks for the great tip.

U re welcome, I do it all the time

Thanks for your tutorial, hope we will skip Houdini soon, It’s very hard to learn so many different apps, Houdini mostly.

So realistic, I think I’ve got sand in my eye.

lol that is so cool very very good mate
