My reproduction of the ‘Manticore’ pattern bolter from the short movie “Astartes” by Syama Pedersen. I liked their design more than the GW original - this one looks more like a sort of submachine gun rather than a slab of granite. As I don’t have a lot of hard surface modelling experience I thought this would be a decent introduction (although I still struggled with parts).
For texturing I differed from the original, and I was inspired by old WW2 guns. I wanted a simple finish, albeit one that indicates the weapon is very old and in constant use/repair. I like the idea of a space marine chapter that is quite uninterested in ornamentation and bright colours, and that this would be reflected in their gear.
