Markers and timeline, Single image

I have been using Blender for years and therefore embarrassed I need to ask this:
I only Render stills, but almost always use cameras bound to markers on the timeline so I can quickly change frames and view my chosen perspectives.
Does F12 always render the frames in the range in the timeline? can I quickly Render only the current frame and camera without adjusting the range? - I thought I could… but can’t do it anymore
(I am using an addon for per camera resolution and you can set the marker from that menu. Could this somehow effect the behavior)

F12 renders current frame with current scene camera (or cameras if you have multiple scenes and compositing). That frame can be outside the animation range.

That’s what I remembered and expected, but it’s not what happening
