If you run game in BG scene, transparency will work fine. But if you do in “Scene” scene, that adds BG as background, mask transparency will not work.

i dont know much on how mask transparency works, but the transparency didnt quite work on the BG scene imo. it looked like the transparency turn into the horizon colour, giving a feeling that its transparent, but i dont think it is.:no: But if you are looking for a quick fix then see the attachment, that works ok with Z-transparency.

Yeah z transparency can be heavy sometimes. Although some optimizations can be done.
In that case you should report a bug in the bug tracker.
