Masking

Hello everyone! then I have the blender version 2.8 and I would like to create a video where a big spider comes out from behind a sofa, I tried many tutorials about it but really nobody explains precisely how he used the mask to cover (for example in my case the sofa from where then the spider comes out) some videos are made so fast that you don’t even understand what features are used, in this link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LlK1Ja6xJw the author shows you how to create the tracking and the floor (although I can never get it to match the floor of the video) but the rest for the mask doesn’t understand anything! if any of you could explain to me how it works, or where I can find a tutorial that explains step by step how to use the mask to cover a wall or an object, I would be very happy, I’m looking at all the websites but I can’t find anything that can really help me … thanks and sincere greetings

Hello.this one cover the two subjects you are interested in.

Google is not really your friend all the time.

And welcome, dude!

Thank you skuax!! yes and no,however I learned new functions. The tutorial is really well done! and with these tutorials you learn a lot of things!! however the tutorial that i search is how to create and use a mask for masking an object in the movie, for example a wall from an house or like, that then a monster or an animal or a person comes out from behind this wall or object, do you understand what I mean? here I post another video to make you understand better, I wrote to the author of this video with the dinosaur, and he just replied that the net would be full of these tutorials! however this has not received it will never receive from me any like. Thank you for your answer!!

Knock yourself out.

Hello, have no experience with masking/tracking but in that video ( at :43) he mentions that he uses an addon named BLAM which apparently is no longer supported and fspy which the BLAM page refers to is only for still images.

Sometimes, “Z-depth” is all you need: “Z” being “the distance from the camera.” If the spider comes from behind the sofa, then obviously it’s the object that is “farther away.”

It is entirely typical for your masking-strategy to vary from one shot to the next.
