Material Displacement Changes?

Hey guys, just downloaded the latest 2.79 development build and noted that in material displacement is not an experimental feature anymore (yay!). It seems to work a little differently than in the past however, the displacement seems to be using rgb to xyz, instead of being along the normals as it had been previously.

couldn’t find any information on this (it’s the development build). any thoughts on where to go for more information?

Search “microdisplacement”.

Found it:

There’s two new nodes, displacement and vector displacement. (or maybe old nodes that are being implemented?)

seems like if you just plug and play, it defaults to vector displacement. You have to wire it through the displacement node to get it to work as it previously did!
