Material Index / compositing problems

Hi,

I’m working on a exterior scene, and i would like to render material passes. I had already used material id but this time, i don’t know where to put it because i don’t have any material index box

Instead of having one only box in the node editor i have many that are mixing together, i have not seen this for now, and no not know how to fix it, and how to get my proper materials separate…

Any help or explanation is really needed, thanks!

My guess is that you haven’t received a response because no one understands what you are asking.
If you want to use material id and have an antialiased result then you will need to use the save buffers option…otherwise it’s gonna look like crap since material id pass grabs its data based on material plus z-buffer.
Why are you using a composite node and a file output node? That’s a bit redundant.
Proper way to combine all of those id mask images is via a mix node set to add or screen.
If you don’t have an id pass set in the compositor in the original file that you are pointing to then it isn’t going to give you an id pass in the curent blender file. Whatever was set in the original file is all that you’re going to get in the current scene. I cannot see the image you posted, even after downloading it, to k ow exactly what you have going on.
I think you’re really just missing the point of what the material id is for anyway. This pass is useful for selectively masking, replacing or adjusting the alpha of a particular material at a later time. If you’re at a loss for what to do with it then it’s a sure bet that you didn’t need it to begin with. Considering the way in which you rendered these id masks you would have horrible aliasing even if you understood their use.
I don’t want to sound rude but for the time being I belelieve that you need to concentrate your efforts of gaining a firm grasp of alpha channel manipulation. Once you thoroughly understand alphas, most of the rest of the nodes in the compositor - including the render passes - will almost naturally fall into place for you. Until then it’s going to be like butting your head against a wall.
