Material Nodes too transparent

Hey there I’m just trying to render out a simple laser beam, but it’s coming out too transparent when I render it out as a RGBA png file and I can’t work out where I’m stuffing it up in the Node Editor.

Can anyone help me out, see my file here

I looked at it, attach your last add node to the Compositor. Then look then if you see its to see through save that picture and mark where it is to see through for me it looks fine.

Hmm I tried that and here’s my result…

the render looks fine…

but when you look at the alpha it’s really transparent…

I’d really like the white beam part of it to have hardly any transparency, any clues there?

If You look at the render layers without any nodes they both look solid and fine. Check your RGB curve you have for the Color node. If that is not it. Then go through each node and see what difference that node is making to the picture. By having a better idea what each node does to the image you may figure it out. Plus remember it does matter which order you do certain thing with nodes. Plus it might be solid but does not look very with that alpha background. You are blurring it.

Thanks Softwarespecial,

I think I just might not use the alpha and just keep the black background and just use the Screen Blending mode in Flash (which is were it will end up being used).

Thanks for your help.

Pancreasboy Your welcome. Though First try the one on alpha and place it over another picture and see what happens I am curious. Any way good luck.

Pancreasboy Take the one with the alpha and try placing it over another image and see how see through it is if at all. Also you could take the black background one and use photo shop or gimp to make the black alpha. It shouldn’t affect the laser.

The problem is that the add node does not add the alpha channels… whether that is a bug or by design is the question. The easy fix in this case is to just connect the white render add node image socket to the alpha socket of your composite node. This screenshot shows how the render result differs from the viewer node that doesn’t have the connection
