Gimp is a great source for synthesizing textures. For example, it’s easy to whip up a brushed-metal texture just using its built-in filters.
Wouldn’t it be neat if we could somehow build Gimp into Blender?
Do these materials (especially the first yellow goo one) need specific functionality of the render25 branch? Or will these materials work in standard 2.5x, allbeit slower?
I’m loving the yellow material by the way, the clay one is also nice.

The branch is not really really dead, there’s a plan to merge it into trunk… Possibly this year after 2.6 and hopefully before Mango.
