Materials [2.5]

I was following this older tutorial and it says to go in the materials, under “edit buttons” go into “Link and Materials” section.

Where are these things in 2.5?

Don’t try and follow a tutorial for 2.4 in 2.5.
The materials are under the Materials section in the properties panel. Likewise textures are in the Textures section etc. See the small buttons at the bottom or top (depending how you’ve set your view) of the properties window. For any other functions space bar = search. I’m sure you’ll have other ‘where is this and that’ questions. Do a search in these forums as these questions have been asked before. Remember ools are in the Tool Shelf (T)

Yes I will stop seeking 2.4 tutorials as I find it can be frustrating translating it to 2.5.

in blender 2.49 i remember that i selected the faces and then used assign to tell blender what faces should be assigned to what material.

in blender 2.5 it doesnt work. did they change anything?

…it’s so much nicer now…when in Edit mode the assign button appears right under the materials list…Buttons>materials panel…no more jumping around…
