I am in need of materials mimicking real world puppets. The puppets were scanned and retopo’d, but the materials from scan are no good. Materials need to be viable for 4k animation and the preference is for them to be fully exportable to Unreal Engine so I’m not sure if procedural materials will work properly.
These materials need to be realistic/lifelike and color changeable. See reference photo. Can provide any closeups as necessary.
You didn’t include any information about timelines, number of materials or budget?
Price is negotiable. I would prefer to start with the felt material used for the skin and then build out other materials from there.
I don’t understand why most of the time they don’t say anything about salary etc.
Instead they say “price is negotiable” or “tell me your rates”, probably hoping that someone broke will ask for a very low price.
Sorry for bringing this up but it all sounds rather unfair to me, I come from a background where employers clearly quote how much they offer and I think that all the paid jobs here should mention it.
Is it so hard to say “my budget is …”, or “the task will take around 5 hours to complete and I can offer … per hour”?
The issue is that something like a single material can be found for free or for under $10 if you spend the time looking for it. There are also various pricing models and value based on where the perspective freelancer lives/works. Also, you have people offering freelance gigs that understand an issue from a high level, but might now know specifically how many hours something would take. This approach allows a discussion to take place rather than someone posting a ridiculous price in either direction.
And simply going for the least expensive quote is not how I operate. I want to engage in communication with the prospective freelancer and ensure they aren’t wasting their time delivering something different than what was asked for and having both of us be unhappy. Only two of the people who responded to this ad actually provided samples representative of what I am requesting. It appears no one actually reads requirements and everyone is “capable” of doing the job.
