Personal hard surface practise. Half way through my Mauser C96 model I discovered that everyone else and their grandmother has also modeled a Mauser C96. But I had fun practising the workflow so I made some extra mods.
Rifle stock and silencer are my own designs, while the scope and snail drum magazine are made from real world references.
Process:
- Low-poly modelling in Blender.
- Added creases on hard edges and applied subdiv modifier.
- Sudivision and dynamesh in Zbrush.
- Applied smoothing on all hard edges in Zbrush.
- Decimation of model and export of smoothed high poly.
- Import low and high poly into Substance 3D Painter.
- Bake in Substance and then texturing.
- Exported textures back to Blender.
- Done.
