Mauser C96 + Addons

Personal hard surface practise. Half way through my Mauser C96 model I discovered that everyone else and their grandmother has also modeled a Mauser C96. But I had fun practising the workflow so I made some extra mods.
Rifle stock and silencer are my own designs, while the scope and snail drum magazine are made from real world references.

Process:

  • Low-poly modelling in Blender.
  • Added creases on hard edges and applied subdiv modifier.
  • Sudivision and dynamesh in Zbrush.
  • Applied smoothing on all hard edges in Zbrush.
  • Decimation of model and export of smoothed high poly.
  • Import low and high poly into Substance 3D Painter.
  • Bake in Substance and then texturing.
  • Exported textures back to Blender.
  • Done.
