which is the Maximum number of spots you can use? I set up a scene with 1280 and got problems (lamp overflow) and many spots didn’t show up…

1280 spots!!! Your insane!!!
I do not know the answer to this, but I would think that the buffer for calculating the shadows would be overflowed very quickly with that many spots.
Any way you can light the scene without that many and get the same/similar effect? Probably not, but you might want to try it.

You’re most probably right, and I could achieve the result with Radiosity, but with 850816 faces it makes 1 iteration every minute or so and with veeery poor results
So I’m trying to fake soft light with spots…

No, it’s still 256.
Then how did Stefano get 320 to work?
16 iconspheres.
Each Iconsphere has 20 faces BUT 12 vertexes,
so spots are 12*16 = 192
and not 20*16 = 320
and I do need to sleep more at night

I have exceeded them before, I think it is very close to that
Any spots that are over that number just don’t show up.
