I think you’re making good progress Corniger! The eyelid area still bothers me as it seems it strays from the contours of the eyeball somewhat, I took a screenshot from one of my meshes and although there are certainly better examples it may give you a hint as to how the eyelids wrap around the eyeball. Keep up the good work!
Glad to see you still working on this project. It’s coming along great. I gotta keep up with you, I’ve been bussssy.
I do agree with Romeo on this. One thing I have done to help with getting the mesh to wrap the eye is to select the eye in object mode, go to edit mode, select all of the mesh, set the cursor to selection. Go back to object mode, go to your head’s mesh, then edit the mesh with the pivot point set to 3d cursor. This will make scaling and rotating the mesh around the center of the eye and will automatically draw the mesh in toward or away from the eye, and also, if the mesh is good against the eye, then you’ll be able to rotate along the eye. That’s how I made adjustments to the shape of my eye (with proportional edit), in my current thread, without too much of a headache.
Also, the ear could still use work in it’s shape. Take a look at your photos and then look at your model’s ear. I can do a paint over of your model, if that would help…
Tell you what though, you’re making great progress! You’re going to be knocking out some pretty good models in no time if you keep this up.
All rightie, many thanks again for the nice comments and useful critique! Always a pleasure Especially when my cabbage soup diet chases me out of bed by 6:00 and I can blend 3 hours before heading off to work!
To ease the pain, I made a wire shot with the ORIGINAL reference. That was after a Blending spree over several days, so “scruffy” would be a compliment
@Romeo: I can see what you’re talking about - so I added an ugly butt cellphone shot of my eye this morning to prove my eyelids are somewhat different I got the message though and improved it some more, though my lower eyelid seems to fall off quite flat and the upper one is hardly visible due to old age :eyebrowlift: But you made me tweak it, and that’s definitely good. Also, I have to admit that sometimes 'm blind to mistakes, so I’ll look into that some more, as Soter seems to feel the same about the matter!
@navsart: navsart, navsart… where did I read this name? CGCookie or Jonathan’s classes?? Blenducation?? I’ll check your models out in a few minutes
@Soter: that was a very useful hint putting the cursor inside the eye! Other than that, I can only refer to my eye-“photo”, but correct me if I`m wrong! The eye needs another loop cut in the outer corner to be able to reproduce that double-fold/wrinkle I guess. Complicated! I also tried to soften and shape the eyelids some more, but maybe I’ll have to use one more loop there as well to get the sharpness off the edges.
The ear: one of the causes I included the wire shot. It seems to be quite correct, though it looks a little weird still, which I, right now, would trace back to the missing texture/colouring and reflectivity it would normally have. Yet again, that might be wrong, so an overpaint would be VERY helpful now
@all: You can clearly see in the ORIGINAL reference there’s an angle mismatch - that`s why in the front image the nose seems further up and the ear further down (they extend out of the head and thus pivot along the center), so maybe the eyes are misplaced vertically, though they’re closer to the head pivot and thus can’t be as far off as the nose. Sucks when the reference sucks
Once I have collected enough experience (love your Blender every day! :p) with this model, I’ll definitely do a bunch more. I think the next one is going to come together lightyears faster already, but only once this one is completed to the community’s fullest possible satisfaction! My own satisfaction will result from yours - hopefully So thanks for the encouraging words!
OK - throw me a life preserver, guys :o

My book has arrived Ballistic Pubishing - Essence, The Face. Almost 1 month, but as a package incl. DVD way cheaper than on Amazon, even though I had to pay customs again
There’s a whole load of amazing advice in there, even though I only got into it for 35 pages I think it is highly recommendable, if only to find out how details are being made. I’m curious how this is gonna work in Blender, as they use ZBrush on the side for texturing, so I’ll give a better founded, big review after I can definitely say what you can get out of it. Maybe I’ll start a special thread on that.
Soter - ear overdraw? Or is it unnecessary? I’m taking a LITTLE break from the head now to neutralize my vision again. Going for a Dino in the meanwhile!
Cheers
