…and you thought they was just a lump of burned meat! They have feelings, and they get easily frightened when there is a risk to be digested :D! All Material is procedural and all is made in Blender (modeling, material and the compositor). If you want to look more closely on how I made every material the artstation page is here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/82qln
nice concept.
Few things that could potentially be improved.
-
there are no shadows under the plate. I understhand the lighting and all, but it feels like the plate is hovering.
-
materials for the mash potatoes. aand ot be inline with the meatballs, maybe add some random eyes?
Still there is something not right about it (and appologies but I can’t identify what
)
-
material on the meatballs, are a tad too glossy. They look like they are glazed with something.
-
the meatball eyes, maybe a tad more white so they stick out a tad mroe? though they are good, it took me a few looks to see that indeed they are eyes.
Still love the concept.
Thanks for the suggestions/feedback. I think some of the points could be corrected rather easily, so I might give it another try
At first it looked like a nice rendering of köttbullar until i saw the eyes in the larger image. You have quite morbid concept there
Materialwise the meatballs are too solid and need some SSS and softness.
You should also bring the contrast for the eyeballs up and tweak the material as they look like moldy blueberries in the small scale image.
wow reminded me of the movie susages or soemthing
this is amazing, even though i am not sure ill be able to eat meat any time soon !!!
Thanks, always good with feedback! Will see if I give some of the material another tweak :).
Yeah, food materials are tricky as the human eye is trained to see what is edible and what isn’t.
Now on third glance I noticed that the lingonberry sauce looks bit dried.
Oh and the the potato mash looks quite nice and are those spinach pancakes in the background?
sliced cucumber with some small leaves actually :). Yes, I like to practice on food since it’s a hard balance between SSS, gloss and structure. The ref image I used from start before it got a bit crazy was:
Okay that makes sense now. I already thought the pancakes would have been quite weird combination.
The meatballs in the reference image have a “spongy” appearance with a mix of SSS and solid glossyness.
In the reference the meatballs also look less greasy but if you fry some leftover meatballs in butter the result would look like something you have.
I love the idea. Next time I eat at IKEA, I’ll skip the main dish and just have some Mandeltårta.
