Melchiah's Chamber Remake from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Melchiah’s Chamber is a remake of a single chamber from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. In this chamber fight between Raziel (main character) and Melchiah (boss) takes place. It is one of my favourites moments in games.
I decided to create this remake to increase my 3d graphics skills. All assets were created in Blender (modeling, sculpting, material mixing and drawing, UV, low-poly, etc.), but rendering, lighting and particles were made in Unity. Thanks to this it is playable and available to play on my itchio page.

I was working on this project in iterative fashion - almost none of the objects were created in a single attempt. For example material for walls was created in 3 attempts. Floor was the first finished material. I didn’t know what approach to take for cage. First, I created its simplified model. Next I wasn’t sure if I should sculpt it or not, if I should work on transformed by curve high-poly model or add curvature on low-poly model. Finally I decided to sculpt only ornaments and notches and apply curvature only on low-poly model.

Skeleton is the only object in the scene that was not made by me. It was created by Artec3D. My job was only to cut it and create material (including normal maps). I used boolean modifier to cut skeleton. Floor in the cage was created with geometry nodes. At first I thought that it will be easy and fast work, but my first concept totally didn’t work and I had to change it. It took me around 7 days to create material for floor.

Side part of Melchiah’s Chamber is the last place that I finished in a project.
