Here is my “Melt” created with Remesh modifier:
Create a text object. Default text has mess of faces on it so set the Resolution Preview setting down to 3 or 4. Geometry needs to be extruded, and add bevel. Hit [Alt][C] and convert it to mesh.
Now add Remesh modifier. Play around with settings. I used “Smooth” mode, Octree Depth around 7, and .3 Scale. Uncheck “Remove Disconnected Pieces”. When it looks chunky and rough, select “Apply”. Hit Smooth Shading.
Add a little bumpiness with texture.
