Mesh lagging behind armature

I’ve been building out a model and have gotten around to rigging it, but no matter what I’ve tried, my mesh “lags behind” the armature and I can’t figure out why.

I’m not familiar with how Blender 4.2 handles rigging, so I have no idea what I’m missing and searching here, Steam forums, and the wider internet has yielded no useful results. Help, please?

is there any constraints in object or bone that might be causing it ?

Have you checked all the weights, to make sure there’s no weights from an unexpected bone that could be causing the issue?

If you go into edit mode and select a single vertex in the area, you can see its weights in the N panel:

And check if there’s anything that shouldn’t be there.

All scales applied / reset to 1?

I actually figured it out a few hours after I shut down my PC for the night. The problem was that I had the “Deform” option for my rootTransform and Root bone checked. After unchecking that, the problem went away.

I did check scales and check for random weighted verts that weren’t supposed to be painted, just to be sure. Thanks for your help, guys!
