I’ve modeled a couple high poly cars in the past, in those project I could always rely on the subsurf modifier to make me smooth surfaces. After playing some Wreckfest I wondered what it would take to model a mid-poly car purely by hand. I set the goal to not exceed 250k tris for the car, from my research that seems to be the average polycount for a vehicle in today’s racing games. I also want to make the interior, engine bay and undercarriage. What I’m making is not an exact copy of an existing car, I attempt to make a common looking 70s muscle car. This is my progress so far:
