Missing documentation: BI's halo went to heaven?

I was searching through the documentation and found this page on a halo option which looked like a simple way to render a fog effect.

I switched to the 2.81 version of the page and it said “404 not found.” I am aware there are volumetric effects in eevee, but those normally soak up processing and don’t display well, so is there a halo option hidden somewhere in eevee?
