missing fluids tab

Hi All,

Im a complete beginner with this software so sorry for the stupid questions.

I am trying to follow Nils Thuerey’s fluid tutorial no 1.
http://www10.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/~sinithue/wikimirror/SoCFluidTutorial1.html

I get to step 7 where I am meant to select the ‘Fluids tab’ in Blenders object view interface part.

The problem is that I can’t see any such tab at all.
In my blenderinterface I have only a Constraints tab. In the screengrab in the tutorial, it looks like there should also be an Effects and Particles tab, but I have not got them either. Only that Constraints tab.

Would anyone be able to tell me what I am doing wrong?

I’m using Red Hat Linux and KDE.
And I did not do the blender install myself.

greatful for any pointers

fred

there’s a sub tab [much like the materials section has lamp, texture, world and whatnot] for particles and fluids in the object buttons

Ahhh…now I found it, I have to tick that little physics button.
That makes total sense I suppose.
And Iv’e been looking for two days…:stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks!!
