MMB + Shift function in OS X

Hi,
I just switched to OS X. I’ve got a Logitech mouse connected and the middle mouse button configured so I can use it in Blender.

I liked to use the settings on ‘turntable’ and ‘rotate’ in windows for my MMB. And hold the shift buttuon with it for the ‘Pan View’ function.
I see it needs to work like that in OS X as well, only thing is… nothing seems to happen when I hold the shift button with the shift button. Can’t I use the Pan View function like that, or an I missing something?

I found this alternative pan view: SHIFT+ALT+LMB. It does the job but I think it is less intuitive.
