But if I raise the arm the arm gets stiff and wont bend
I tried different weights of the paint. Blurring and even experimenting with the strength. NOTHING fixes this. I dont understand what i’m doing wrong! I cant find anything on google and I went to blender discord servers and no one helps me. So this is the only place I might be able to get help
Someone PLEASE help me! I’ve spent days on this and I can’t figure it out on my own. All I want is someone to help me…
hard to understand your picture, but have you checked if other bones may have influence on this part? Be aware that it can appear blue but yet some bones may have a little influence, what you could do is select this part of the mesh in Edit mode and in the Properties panel > Object Data > Vertex Groups, click on the down arrow on the right of the list and Remove From All Groups.
Select the mesh, go in Edit mode, go into the Properties panel > Object Data tab > Vertex Groups. Here you’ll see all the vertex groups that have been created when you parented the mesh to the armature, it has given as many vertex groups as you have bones, each vertex group is controlled by the bone with the same name
As I said, select the vertices of this part of your mesh, then in the dropdwon menu click on Remove From All so that it is not affected by any bone, then reassign this part to the vertex group you want, either with the Assign button under the Vertex Groups list, or, better, in Weight Paint mode.
Problem. That mesh is all one mesh alone. So the shoulders, head, neck and etc are all useing it. If I remove them from the vertex groups wouldn’t they lose their control over the mesh?
if you select this part of the mesh and click Remove From All it will understand that this part of the mesh needs to be removed from all existing group, not that it must remove all the mesh from all the groups
you need to go in Edit mode and select this part of your mesh (the shoulder). I think you should follow some basic tutorials about Blender, modeling, rigging, etc, because it looks like you’re trying to go too far too soon
yes in Edit mode select the vertices of the shoulder, remove from all, then select the arm bone, switch the character mesh to Weight paint mode and repaint this part
yes you should try some basic tutorials, as Blender can make a lot of things, there’s a lot of things to understand so it takes time
So select the shoulder area and remove all but the arm?
Also im just learning blender specifically to port models to Source Filmmaker. I am not a fan of Blender so even if I did consider useing it for other stuff I just cant do it. This is stressful and irritating enough as it is. Learning to create models would probably go to a whole new level of anger and stress
Select the arm area in Edit mode, then Remove From All, then select the arm bone and Weight Paint again. This way you’re sure no other bone than the arm bone affects this part of the mesh.
Sure you don’t have to learn the whole software for some operations, but nevertheless you should learn some basics before doing complicated things
I learned some basics. I’m just learning things that are a requirement. My main issue right now is
A line going over a texture but I was told I can only fix it by useing brush and blending it in, weight painting and weight painting the tail and face. The face has zero weight. When I move the model it just stretches where the bones are. Also theres two faces. Im unsure how I can make the face bones affect them both. I assume just apply paint on both. I was told useing the auto weight for facebones works best. But still. Two faces arent a problem cause in sfm you make whats called bodygroups so I can swap between them. But I dont know what to do for the tail.
