Model distortion when Exported to .3ds format

So I am just starting out actually doing something in blender, I decided to make a chair. Simple enough right? and I’ve had substance designer 4 for a while now (steam sale) and decided to actually fire it up. The only issue is… Whenever I import a model it is distorted and oversized. I don’t know if this is a problem with me just not scaling it properly on my end or a problem while exporting or importing the file.

update! Instead of the .3ds format I used .fbx and that seemed to solve all the problems
