Thanks Fligh ill do that.

I did some research on the problem - here is my result:

It is based on images found in Internet, but I am still not sure about the correct technology for creating the grill (which is very important in order to recreate it in 3D).
There is pretty fast way to create correct wireframe for the grill without using faces.
Unfortunately, I can’t find an appropriate script for making the edges solid (I know about the Solid Wireframe script - but it requires faces which aren’t present in this case).
So from this stage I had to convert every wire into curve (with a script - Edges to Curve) and bevel it with with a bezier circle, manually - which, already, is time consumming.

hey thanks syziph that a pretty descent results, that Edges to Curve script sounds very interesting there were may cases I wish I had something like that. anyway ill try and find that script thanks again.

It’s in the Scripts window under Mesh.

Alright then!
I will post a video of the basic techninques i used

Thanks Fligh,
@Syziph I will appreciate that

I’m sorry for delay!
Here it is:
Technique for modeling a microphone grill

FileFront link:

AVI file (compression XVID)
Size ~ 19 MB
Time ~ 11 minutes

No audio (bad English  )
Look at the OSD window for hotkey hints.
If any questions - please ask!

Note - I missed the part with removal of the mesh objects. It can be done easily by selecting them all at the time (Select->All by Type -> Mesh, then delete). Also the shaping of the gril - it can be done by hidding or deleting parts of the grill.

Thanks for all the help Syziph, nice video by the way.

You’re wellcome!
I hope it will help you to create a good looking microphone

link expired, any mirror?

Probably long time no download and the files were automatically removed.
I don’t have the original.
If somebody who has a copy, can reupload it somewhere that will be nice
