Modeling a tortilla chip

Hi guys,
I’m wanting to model a tortilla chip. I tried to but I don’t know enough about modeling. How do I start modeling one?

Your off to a good start. I would subdivide your triangle more and experiment with Proportional Editing – to make the chip curvy.

Needs more guacamole!

I agree you have a good start. I think I would try not to isolate your quads (pushing them out to the tips). It seems like it would be hard to randomize the geometry without making them look clunky.

Here is my try, I think I’m close, I didn’t spend a long time on lighting and textures so its not perfect. But your welcome to download the file and break it down to see if it helps.

chip.blend (801 KB)

I used a displace modifier to randomize the geometry that way you don’t have to tweak verts on every chip.

Thanks for posting the model, it helped.

is it possible to find a good proc texture for this or only UV map ?
