Modeling and Animating A Djinn


I’ve almost finished modeling and animation a djinn, i want to hear your feedbacks to improve the work, and thank you very much in advance:

My critique is that you render out a still, and then edit you’re post and use the image. That way you will have a thread icon too attract more attention. My other critique is the djinn appearing. Here are two things you could do:

have the bottom part become visible first, and then have the opacity move up to the top until it’s completely opaque. Here’s a way to do it:

  1. add a blend texture

  2. set the mapping to z, z and none

  3. have it influence the alpha by 1.00

  4. set the z transparency alpha to zero, under the materials panel.

then you can insert key-frames for the brightness and contrast to set how much is opaque. You can also have the blend texture influence the specular by checking the intensity box under specular, and setting the material specular value to zero.

The other thing you could do is to just have the djinn be very small and then increase it’s size as it emerges from the smoke cloud.
