Modeling around a building scan

Hello! It is my goal to become a better modeler and to model lots of buildings but I’ve got a long ways to go. The last project of mine I was modeling a head following a Jonathan Williamson tutorial of modeling a head.

My current project calls for a much different modeling mehtod and I haven’t followed a tutorial for this and perhaps I should. If you know of a good one please recommend one for me. If you have any suggestions for my modeling methods, I’d love to hear them!

I’ve set out to model this Byzantine-style Russian Orthodox Church found on St. Paul Island in Alaska. I used 123D Catch to photo-scan it and the result is pretty good.

Then I start modeling around it.

I’ve made the roofs different objects so they would have their own local axis. I don’t know if this was a good idea or not. Here’s a shot with them

Well, okay this is the beginning. Thanks for looking.
