Modeling Difficulties - In need of advice

I’ve been modeling some converse high tops as of late and this is my current progress:

I’m really happy with everything so far, except the shoe lace holes.

This is how I’ve modeled them at the moment:

But I’m getting some pinching where pinching is not wanted:

How would you suggest I model this portion of the shoe? Any and all advice is appreciated :slight_smile:

After another try, this is what I’ve got. Less pinching. Is this possibly the best way to go about doing this?

The second option creates lots of n-gons (faces with more than 4 sides) all around the face with the hole in it. You might be better off just creating a square hole there and relying on the subsurf modifier to make it round at render time.

I neglected to mention that I would resolve the n-gons with a loop all the way up the side and then necessary loops down down to the bottom of the shoe, but thank you for the heads up :slight_smile:
