Modelling and animating a mouth

Hi guys,

I’m quite new to blender. I’ve known about the program for years but i’ve never been an active user of the program.

My goal is to model and animate a mouth to track dialogue, essentially basic lip syncing. I was wondering a few things.

Is it possible to motion track my own lips and have them animate a model mouth within blender? (using clean footage from a DSLR)

I only planned to isolate the mouth as the animation, no head, eyes, nose etc. Would this make it more challenging or easier?

I’ve briefly watched a few sculpting videos on youtube a while back. But my intention for this project is connected to uni so i’m open to any ideas on how to move this forward.

Hope to hear some ideas!

Cheers guys,
And I attached some images of sculptures i molded with air dried clay so you’ve got the idea of what kind of animation i’m going for. I really just need to be sent down the right rabbit hole so that I know what i’m learning correlates with what i’m animating haha.
