Modelling light beams for printing

I have a small project where I need to create an object that’s emitting beams of light, which I want to be able to have 3D etched into a glass prism.
I’m trying to model beams of light that look realistic, but it’s proving quite difficult.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best do this?

An image of the plain model is attached and the intention is to have light beams emitting out from the gaps between the red, green and yellow components.

A note that the final object must be exportable to something like OBJ, so this is why I can’t use volumetric lighting and it needs to be an actual mesh… unless someone knows how to export the volumetiric as a mesh?

You could run a curve though it,turn it into a tube and then make an animated texture that runs between transparency and emission.
