Modifier still looks up already non existing mesh and purging orphan data doesn't help?

Deleted “road_mesh” object. Tried to rename it’s unlinked duplicate. It won’t allow me to rename it without suffix, because Blender still keeps original somewhere in the background.

I tried to purge all orphan data, but that didn’t help. Any ideas?

If u find nothing try to export and import the mesh back to the scene

Found it and deleted it under Blender File tab.
