Great work. I love the fairy girl and the monkey boy and the overall quality of the renders. Is there going to be a dragon of sorts? I think your modeling skills + style would make an awesome dragon.

I can say that :
Some of the characters are “smaller” (the girl, the 2 new boys) than other (Rocheux (rocky), jai-yienth).
In this thread, the characters are for the game, so they a little SD (super deformed) for the game.
In the animation, perhap’s they will be bigger,if I have the time ;).
xibalba : heu, sorry I have don’t understand. BUt in the game, the characters are created from a “graphics chart”, I have made a lot of graphic research for them ;).

I have a lot of inspiration (dark crystal is one of them, probably one of the first ;)), but I tried to forget all that I like to create my own world.
In fact, the base of the game is a comics that I have created in 1994 (when I was very young :p) which named “the cycling of the cursed” or “the land of cycles” (in french : “le cycle des maudits / la terre des cycles” ).
Here is a page that I have drawn in 1994, (first case) and 2000 (cases 2 to 6) :
In the game, I have used : the plants, 4 characters for the race (Dron, Rocky, Nurten, Espheïn), some house.
The character in this page is the first version (1994) of the dron.

For the others inspirations :
I like a lot of films : Dark Crystal (probably the first inspiration ;)), the “Neverend story”. I really like the fantasy (light fantasy, in general) and SF (star wars, stargate…)
Some of my favorite : pixar, dreamwork, bluesky, vanguard animation movie.
And some animation serie : cobra (an old anime), Jimmy Neutron, sponge bob :D.
Some game : goonzu, final fantasy, ragnarok.
Comics : some french comics : lanfeust de troy, Loisel, Moebius…
Manga : cobra, dragon ball.
I want to create a sort of big dragon in the futur ;).
Now, I 'm working on the race for the player. I have to create yet :
- 4 characters (boy) : sraalt, kteon (boy), ness (boy), Meït (?) (Gorhole) (boy)
- 8 girl : sraalt, rocky (girl), jai-yienth (girl), dron (girl), waerth (tolphe) (girl), Esphein (girl), Meït (?) (Gorhole) (girl), Nurten (girl)
After that I have to :
- animate the character (walk, fight, magic).
- animate the 40 animals/ennemis (walk-attack)
- create the map for the game (between 20 and 40 map at the begining)
- some new background (decor ?) : house, plants, grounds, objects
- create a lot of objects in the game (arm, equipment, cloths…)
So after all that work, I could create a Dragon :p.
blendman the work i have seen from you here on BA is some of the coolest art i’ve ever seen. Your drawing style is really attractive and your 3d style is just fantastic.
I would like to know if you maybe want to share maybe some tips or so how you learned
to draw so well, i would like to get into 2d a little too!

Hahaa, that’s fine I’m a little depressed back then and when I found this thread I just exploded I guess. I’m not so good with English anyway since it’s not my native language. I’m an English - Indonesian translator though so I joined many forum just to make my English not rusty. About what I said:
- Minnimoys: A race in “Arthur and the Minnimoys” movie. Check http://www.arthuretlesminimoys.com/ if you wish to know more. I think the design style looks a bit like yours.
- About the PDF, image strips, etc.: I really hoped that you’ll make a tutorial of how you make one of these characters or even better, how you make the game itself. Hopefully, I can see it in the next issue of Blender Art Magazine. I know it’s a big request and it can slow down the progress of your game so I won’t insist you on doing this.
- About that character I imagined, I think it’s like a humanoid version of a skunk (like Pepe Le Pew) but replace the fur with skin, keep the motive (the white stripes), and use porcupine for the hair. Make it look evil but cute and voila! I can’t remember as clearly as back then but I think I describe it right.
By the way, since it’s a high-poly model for a game, are you using Blender Game Engine for this project?

The game is now developped in C++, and it 's a 3D isometric (with a 2D engine, not 3D), It’s not the BGE.

You shouldn’t focus only on game. With this models you can make cartoon, comic book, illustrations for children’s notebooks, find a deal with manufacturers of all sort of items for children (illustrations and package design)… You have made amazing job, and try to earn as much as you can from it…

I did my studies in a “comics school”, in France. After obtaining the diploma, I worked in a video game society (for 4 years, I have worked in 2 games (Obscure 1 & 2)), makes comics and 3D (for 3-4 years), and since 2006, I work on Moonkiroe.
Truly stunning, 5 stars without question.
Only critizism i can come up with is that the “bigger ends” of the first girl’s hair are too symmetric. Oh, and the “enemies” seem too happy and peace-loving to pose any real threat :rolleyes:
