hello
the people who have seen the movie “treasure planet” wil remember this litlle cute creature.
but before i animate it i would like some comment ( you know before i ad shape key’s and such)
Looks good for a start. I think the eye has too much specularity in the first pic it looks like it is wearing glasses.
It might be a good idea to show us some ortho wireframes to see how the mesh will animate.
model the eyes as separate spheres and use a lattice to deform them. right now they would be imposable to animate. the mesh looks OK, though you should work on getting rid of the triangles
The giimples or what ever those hanging thingies are could use another loopcut if you want to animate them bending. Think of fingers.
About the tris they might give you problems during animation if the head doesn’t deform unfiormly but they might be ok if the positions won’t be deformed to much otherwise the subsurf modifier will give you grief. Do a short test with a simple rig to see how they will behave. Since I can’t remember this creature from treasure island I’m not sure what parts will actually move on the head so I can’t really say anything to that.

the only thing i would have to do is make him more fluid like ( and make some small loose blob’s that fly behind it and morph in and out the body)
