Love the old roadside signs. This is a mashup of several of my favorite retro signs. All modeling done in Blender. Used Substance Painter and Photoshop for texturing. Rendered in Cycles and composited in Photoshop.

Not too far from where I live, there was a spectacular but abandoned sign quite similar to this, in front of an also-abandoned property. One day, the sign was gone, the property was bulldozed, and it has now been redeveloped completely into an AirBnB. I don’t know what happened to the sign. But, I do know that there are still “neon interest-groups” who try to find and preserve these things. I can only hope that this is what happened to this one. (Might the original sign be lovingly restored and re-erected? I would like to think so, but I doubt it.)

I wish I had the space and time to restore a few of these. I think that would be a fun and rewarding project. There are a couple in our town just waiting for some attention. Luckily we have photographers, and other digital artists, to help preserve them.
