Hey Sgt.Bilko, very nicely done so far, realy cool :Z . Especially the engine rocks. I do have some critics: the tires look really thin, I don’t know if that is supposed to be that way, but I think they are a bit too thin. You also gave the chain a bit gravity and it bends nicly down but I honesty don’t think a chain should be that bended. If you do want the chain to be a bit bended down, then bend the lower part of the chain down, not the upper part of the chain.
It’s a bit hard to explain :-? .

But a very good job so far 8).

thx roger, yeah i agree the chain needs fixing, and the tire at the front is way too thin, i will change them.

Just a complete shot in the dark but the blender manual has a section on bezier curves that also demonstrates circular cutouts. Perhaps that with bezier circles that are thickened after the cutouts?

updated front tire and chain

lookin’ good. Very good!
For the tread on the tires, I’d say model it. I’ve not had much luck with displacement mapping, except for simple maps on polydense meshes. maybe someone out there knows a trick I don’t?

aaah, the old holes in the metroceiling trick

great bike btw!

hey, thats awesome! Im gonna get a dirt bike some day. until then, I’ll just watch for more updates.

by the way, I saw a tutorial on how to model a tire using dupliframes or spin dup (can’t remember which)…
I cant find it but basically you make a plane and extrude it so that it looks like one “line” of tread (across the tire not around it) and then you use dupliframes or spin dup to make the tread all the way around a 360 degree. Then you make the two lips that go into the wheel on either side.

I’ll see if I can find the tutorial… I think it was for 3D studio max but blender can do it just as well.

What do you think about rendering in YAFRAY?

Don’t worry dhanielc i will render it in yafray, but I wont be able to get any sleep because my custom built PC has so many fans rewired into mains power that my comp sounds like a wind tunnel( 9 fans in fact LOL)–> overclocked system need to be cold, it’s imperative.

Oh yes…I understand you!

I forgot…amazing motorcycle!!!

Looks real and pro.

is nice to hear that my work was a inspiration to anyone
expecialy if that work is much better than mine.

Waiting for good render with GI or at least AO

regards

Thx neos, but i still perfer yours, nice to hear from my ispiration  ,yeah yafray problem has been fixed, turned out their was a huge…and I mean HUGE plane, so big that only after zooming as far a way as possible i could grab it and delete it, don’t ask how it got thier lol %|

The tread tutorial zachboy82 mentioned (or at least one similar) can be found here. (As zachboy82 said, these are for 3D Max but can easily be modified for Blender use.)

The simple (read crappy) tire.

The good tire. (I think the one zachboy82 mentioned.)

Also, there is a tutorial for modeling the drilled brake rotor here.

Your bike is coming along nicely. Hopefully these will help.

Kyle

yeah thats exactly the one I was talking about. thanks kyle!

thx kylereich and zachboy82, I, gonna thread the tires now.

I have added tyre threads and done an AO and Area-light combo to produce a nicer render, but for yafray im gonna try that render farm thing.
