Moving the pivot point/median without moving the object?

How do you move the pivot point/median without moving the object itself?

You can place the 3d cursor where you want the center to be, by left clicking on the 3d window, then click the Center Cursor button.

Place the 3d cursor where you want your pivot point to be and then while in object mode press “center cursor”. Center cursor is in the editing button window in the “Mesh” panel. You can precisely place the 3d cursor int the view->view properties popup.

Thanks guys. I’m not a total newbie. I have been a 3D artist for a number of years now. I just have never used Blender before and everything is in a different place.
