well im working on a “simple machine” for a contest on Nystic.com which ends on the 31st, i’m planning to get it done on monday(25th), i doubt i’ll get it done exactly on the 25th, but i’ll get it done faster then if i said ‘i have to get it finished on the 31st’.
so basically it’s a musical machine, kinda inspired by Animusic.(search for “animusic” on YouTube!)
there are 3 main parts:
the Musical “Solder Guns” which also serve as -(that’s a surprise:D)-,
the “Solder Spoons” witch the solder guns solder to make music,(material looks horrible now)
and another instrument Which i haven’t modeled yet. :o
not mush to critique yet, but there will be soon. :yes:
well i’ve basically finished the solder gun part (except for a little tweeking, and to add a material to the base). and added the solder, with some help from anderw pricec muzzle flash tutorial.

yeah it’s not supposed to, that’s where i got the idea. i’m still probably gonna change it though.
basically it looks like it’s soldering the spoons, and when the solder stuff hits the spoons it makes a sound.
Like the colors and materials so far. At first preferred the box being light, but now I actually think the dark, rough material works better.
How does it all fit together?
actually the light version was before i added a material. and i am probably going to add like scratches and stuff, if i have time.
here are a few images. there not very self explanatory, but i’ll show you more as it get’s more finished.
(note: there are some pieces missing because i haven’t modeled them, and because i just now slapped these together.)
I like it! I’ve got no idea what it is but I do like it. The only complaint is that the dark grey box is much too… well, Simple. Perhaps a few greeblies, maybe a grill here and there…

what it is, is basically a mix between a transformer and, well, a bunch of instruments:D.
you are absolutely right, i wasn’t going to add that kind of stuff, but now that the contest is over:( i have more time to add that kind of stuff.:yes: i’ll see what i can do!
So…the arms at the sides excite the glowing tubes, causing the horns at the top to rotate into to the metal plates at the back which then makes the horns sound?

no they’re each separate instruments. ever heard of Animusic? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoUtUxY81fM the arms in the side have laser beams and they make a sound, the tubes are lit up by the wires underneath.(like in the video i linked to) and those aren’t horns it’s just the other end that blown into the spoons, like the sound that water makes when it hits a pan in the sink.
i’ll try to pick up the this project again but i have so many other projects but i’ll try. :yes:
