My Balls are in Love

Hi, again blenderartists.org. I have another problem, this one of a Christmas-oriented-animation nature. I’m making this animation for my work, and I have these ornaments (selected object) that are supposed to float around all over the tree. There’s four more underneath that selected ornament.

The problem is that every time I get to a new frame, and set them all out how I want, and make it a keyframe, the next time I move anywhere on the time line, they’re all back piled up together. I went to each one of them and hit clear parent, but that didn’t fix it.

How about it…can you help good ol’ Scrooge McDaddy save the company Christmas? It’s okay if it doesn’t work out, because nobody knows I’m doing this. Tomorrow’s the last day before the holiday and I’ma slip it into the rotation on the company news rotator.

…muahhaha…

When this happens I usually clear the keys and start over with autokeying on. With autokeying on, I go to the next key frame and then move the objects where they need to be, that way the auto key will record the changes made at that key frame with out having to insert a key frame for each object. The snap back effect usually happens when something was keyed before (where they start) but not all of the objects are accepting the new key frame when applied. This happened to me once before in another piece of software, but the same thing applies. Somehow I had the first key frame set, moved further on the timeline, accidentally hit a button to turn auto keying off, and the object I moved kept snapping back to the starting point whenever I tried to move the timeline slider or even rendering, it would only render the first keyframe. I thought a keyframe was being made, and I wasn’t inserting them my self. Hard to explain while I’m at work and not playing around in 3D so I can go through the steps and then type it out, but I think you can get the point.

Looks like you have other keyframes here though, so this may not be the problem, but since I don’t have the file I couldn’t tell you. If you have multiple objects selected, only the active object will recieve the keyframe.
