I am making a short where the glass becomes shattered in slo-mo and then falls down.
The problem I’m facing is, a force field doesn’t push it at all (I checked deactivation), a wind force just pushes the entire thing forward rather than breaking it. But when I resorted to a transparent ball to hit it, it CRASHES to the ground even when the ball is like 40 cm away.
And then, when I turn on gravity after a few frames, it still tries to revolve around each other as if there’s no gravity and it’s trying to revolve around objects with mass.
Please help, here’s the file: Glass shatter
I hope this reaches to someone, I really don’t want to stop working on this project, please help
First of all, i am not the best at simulation, but what i can see is:
Your gravity is set to 0
The origin of the pieces isn’t correct:
select all - object - origin to center of mass
Rigid body world - speed should be 1
the mass of the objects maybe too small
i changed those things and its a bit better
Glass crack and shatter (1).rar (1.6 MB)
OMG, THANK YOU! This is the closest it has got to my desired effect! I am currently experimenting with how to make the effect slightly less powerful (Somehow it makes a difference by how far the ball is?)
BUT THANKS! If you have any ideas, could you check why a force field isn’t working? Is it just me or what?
its not how far it is away. its the speed = velocity = force (or something like that :))
force fields dont work on rigid bodies i think(not sure)
i think they are for particles, which is a different system as far as i understand
Hmm, but in the rigid body tutorials, it does work, by checking the ‘deactivation’ box, but I guess it’s okay. I got what I wanted.
