I just made my first project that didnt follow a tutorial… i thinks it came out decent… but i cant further it any more with moving dilating eyes, mouth, and fur… because i dont know how… so i ended it here… tell me what do you think? is it good for a first timer?
you can use the image code op the tinypic webspace so we can see the images here :
it is a milestone in your 3d career to do something that wasn’t directly following a tutorial
i have no criticism, because as a non moving object there wont be so many issues.
I can offer some encouragement: do more models, do as many as you can. gradually do more complex
models.
only through modelling a lot will you start to see a pattern in your actions, and you will find that you repeat
certain movements/techniques over and over again. you will want to use shortcuts and eventually scripts.
I think it would help if you added a subsurf modifier, and rendered it
just a note, it would fall over if you tried to stand it on it’s feet. (in other words, the feet need to be farther back)
but yeah, that’s good
and what do you mean by subsurf modifier? im still new to this
go to modifiers panel, click on add modifier, choose subdivision surface, in the new option u see crank up the render & view value to 2 or 3.
it will smooth your model
oh cool thanx… also any tips you could suggest to improve the model?
also how do i smooth the model with set smooth and subdivision without messing with the diamond thing on the top of his head? that has to stay pointy
Proto, if you want to make this model animation ready, you would have to start adding twist and bending friendly edge loops at locations near all movable joints.
This model is much, much better than the one I first made in Blender. Nice to see a decent first timer post.
I feel special lol thanx. what do you mean by twisting and bending edge loops? (i want it to move like it has no bones… as it is a doll… i want to eventually get the doll to the point where it looks like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGy8leZXkgg&feature=related but with a mouth and realistic fur…)
EDIT: why does it look like this when i render a shot?
